When it’s snack time, it’s time to make Homemade Pita Chips! Our family loves the crunchy taste of a baked pita slice with just a sprinkle of sea salt. Homemade pita chips are a great alternative to regular potato or tortilla chips for when you want to keep snack time healthy.
4 rounds of pita bread
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Using a pizza cutter, slice your pita into eighths. Separate the top from the bottom and arrange in a single layer on a cookie sheet, rough sides up. Using an oil mister, generously spray and coat the rough sides of the pita bread. You can also drizzle or use a pastry brush to coat. Sprinkle sea salt on the pan. Bake for 7-9 minutes or until chips are crisp and golden. Makes approximately 2 cups of chips or 1 pan full. Store in an air-tight container for up to 1 week.
My kids will devour these plain, but we also like to add homemade salsa or a creamy herb dip for variety. When it’s Family Night Movie Snack Time, we give the popcorn a rest and whip up this crunchy snack of homemade pita chips.
