The name spaghetti and meatball skewers might be a tad misleading since these cute sticks of fun actually use tortellini instead of spaghetti. Putting long noodles on a skewer would require some elaborate knots that no one has time for, so I picked an easier pasta to work with. The result is a fun kid-friendly dinner!
I have found that two things seem to always make food more appealing to my kids: Skewers (or toothpicks) and dipping. Food is more delicious when it’s on a stick as far as they are concerned, so I wanted to bring that idea to their standard pasta dinner. It’s not pictured here, but you can serve these with marinara or alfredo sauce to cover your dipping bases too. Not only are these a fun dinner option, they would also be good for parties!
This is hardly even a recipe. Just gather these things and start assembling:
- Whole wheat cheese tortellini, cooked according to package directions
- Frozen meatballs (store bought or homemade), heated in microwave
- Vegetables your kids will eat (I chose grape tomatoes and steamed broccoli)
- Marinara and/or alfredo sauce for dipping
I hope your family enjoys these spaghetti and meatball skewers as much as we did. Looking for more easy dinner ideas for picky kids? How about one of these?
