Extreme Black Friday Shoppers

I LOVE Black Friday!

I wasn’t always a Black Friday shopper, but once I had my first taste of the madness, there was no going back.  Every year after Thanksgiving dinner, we put the kids to bed, and I hit the road with girlfriends in tow.  It actually might be one of my favorite nights of the year.  And since I’m not a morning girl, I’d way rather go late night than rising at the crack of dawn.  Is it madness?  Yes.  Do we get home at 4 a.m.?  Yes.  Do the lights inside Target seem SUPER bright at 3 a.m.?  YES.

Clearly wide awake

But I love it.  We usually head to the outlet stores where the deals are spread out, and you can actually walk in the store.  Two years ago, there was a live DJ spinning at the Gap.  Hot chocolate is .50 at Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory and people are in great moods.  The people I’ve seen out on Black Friday WANT TO BE OUT.  Hence the good moods.

See the DJ behind us?

I was watching the news on Friday night (we’re talking one week ago) and they were interviewing a guy who was FIRST in line for Black Friday.  Numero uno.  He was going to camp out for a week.  I’m not sure exactly what he was after, but I would certainly hope it’s something REALLY good.  My favorite part was when he said that his mom brought out china and everything you would eat on Thanksgiving and they had a regular Thanksgiving dinner.  In a parking lot.

I read another article this week about a woman who gathered a group of 16 friends who last year started having meetings in JULY to map out their Black Friday strategy.  Meeting over six times before Thanksgiving, they headed out around 9 p.m. on Thanksgiving night, returning home at 2 p.m. on Black Friday itself.  All of their shopping had racked up over $10,000 of items for $2,000.  Everything they purchased was donated to needy families for the holidays.

There are Black Friday shoppers of all kinds.  But if you’re thinking about getting out there this year, do it!  The deals are hot and the crowds are large.  Bring coffee, friends, a happy holiday spirit and hopefully a promise from your spouse to help with the kids the next morning.

Happy shopping!

Black Friday!

I cannot even remember taking that photo, but I sure do remember how LOUD that music was. Good times, 3 years running now. Can’t wait for next year! 😉

I was thinking of going shopping late Thursday night but opted to stay home in my warm bed instead. (All that turkey made me tired!) Too bad I missed getting a photo with “Hunky Santa” at my local mall. I guess he was there for the “midnight madness.” Ha!
