Carina has been typing on the internets before there was a www in front of everything. This is why she’s cranky and wants to know when you’ll get off her lawn. She resides in a hopelessly outdated home in the Mountain West with a mathematician and three children hell-bent on destruction. Her laundry is not done, but her Twitter is totally up to date. Carina does not have a Tumblr, because get serious.

The Boston Children's Museum just won the prestigious National Medal for Museum and Library Science. They sponsor Science Saturdays with extra hands-on science and nature play, have murals your kids can help paint, and hundreds of interactive displays that celebrate the power of play! I spent half my childhood being dragged through museums, which means my kids need the same experience. They’re luckier than I was because museums are so much cooler and more interactive than when we were kids!

The best museums for kids have exhibits that inspire wonder, indulge their curiosity, and teach them something new without being stuffy. While there are thousands of museums all over the world, I’ve narrowed our picks down to just museums in the U.S. Lots of these best museums for kids even offer free admission! Definitely check out each museum’s website for current exhibits and to plan your visit; sometimes hours may vary or there might be special events that you won’t want to miss.

The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis is a must! It’s the biggest children’s museum in the world, often rated higher than any Chicago museum, and combines science, history, art, dinosaurs, trains, and more into one giant experience. Love this place!
