Master Bathroom Remodeling Ideas

As mentioned in my 2012 Recap and 2013 Resolutions, it’s time to tackle some master bathroom remodeling at my house.  It’s hard to describe what our master bathroom looked like before — kind of like pink vomit flattened into fake marble wallpaper.  Then I started peeling the wallpaper, then I let my kids draw on the walls.  There are only so many ways you can make a bad situation worse.

Why not learn the phonetic alphabet and morse code while sitting on the john? Make every minute of your day count for something, I always say.  And there is a scrap of that lovely wallpaper.

The ladder in the first photo is standing in a large corner bathtub, which is impossible to fill with hot water because it’s too big for the house’s water heater.  When it has been filled and the jets turned on, I feel like a plucked chicken must feel while floating in a pot at a rolling boil. Enough of that stupid tub.

So what’s the plan? The plan is to make the shower a toilet, the tub a shower, and the toilet a shelving nook.  The plan is to tile rather than vinyl, and to vessel rather than sink.

While we’re at it, why not throw the bedroom out with the bath water.

No, literally.  We moved out and are sleeping in the guest room and showering in the kids’ bathroom.  We’re selling our furniture (and the corner tub — did I mention how awesome it is? You should buy it).

Here’s the new bedroom inspiration.  I got a driftwood art piece for my birthday, and my husband has some weathered tobacco barn wood that we’re using on one wall.

Love your inspiration ideas! We are building a house and I’ve been so focused on permits and structure I haven’t even had a chance to think about how I’m even going to finish it. Thanks for the jump start!

I am SO impressed with you! I want to do a much smaller overhaul on our bathroom, and I’ve been a little nervous about it, but this post was super inspiring! Can’t wait to see the finished product!
