I found my mom uniform for this fall! Half of you are saying, “DO TELL,” and the other half are like, “I didn’t know we needed uniforms now…”
Your mom uniform is the outfit you grab for every day running around. It’s a step up from yoga pants (or, *cough* it should be) but not necessarily something you’d wear to a traditional office. I want to look put together, but not fussy or impractical.
1. Draped tunic sweater
I’m in love with this draped tunic sweater that I found digging in the racks at The Rack. It’s a beautiful medium gray that hides finger print smudges but looks rich. The drape is super forgiving and cozy. And is it just me or are tunics hard to find? If we’re going to wear leggings (and I say why not,) your top needs to cover your derriere. More tunics, please. I love this sweater so much I bought it in berry and black. Multiples! The drape is low enough that I can layer a solid cami or a little leopard print tee. Long necklace or a bold metal earring completes it.
2. Black leggings
The right pair of leggings hold you in and hit you right: long enough that they don’t cut your legs off and can be pulled over shoes, and substantial enough that you’re not displaying your topography.
3. A shoe with a little style
These are Dansko Nori from their Sofia Collection. I’ve been looking for shoes that aren’t ballet flats, but aren’t heels. Again, I’m running around all day: volunteering at school, errands, shopping, and sometimes the office. I think these Nori shoes, kind of a mix of a pump and a loafer, fit the bill. They’re leather, because I don’t buy shoes that aren’t leather anymore. These Danskos are terribly comfortable, substantial enough that my toes won’t freeze, and I won’t slip around in snow. Perfect for fall. Thank you, Dansko for sending them to me! I think I should probably order the light gray pair, just to make sure I’m never out of shoes (it’s a legitimate fear, look it up.)
Other things pictured you might want to rip off: pumpkin on porch, moving arm action shot, 3-day-old hair that you didn’t check before posing, a photographer who doesn’t know how to focus your camera, and a dirty door.
What’s your go-to mom uniform for this fall?
