I have potty trained 2 of mine already(a while ago & with ease), but my 3rd is a bit stubborn. She is 2 1/2 and I have promised her that when she goes potty all the time then she can get her ears pierced and get “pretty earrings” like mommy. Even with that incentive……she has suddenly lost all interest except when her little brother(15 months) gets on the potty chair to try. She doesn’t want to be out done by him. With that being said, I need a little push to break her stubborn ways, before it rubs off on the littlest one, so this would be a HUGE help! BTW love your blog, just stumbled upon it & can’t wait to explore it more. Take care!

Get a potty small enough for your childs feet to reach the floor, so they can get on/off all by themselves.
I haven’t started yet, but friends say that constant access to treats is a big motivator.
I’m training my first kid right now…let’s just say it’s been an ongoing project for a couple years now. I’m a newbie, but the best advice is don’t lose patience and never make anything about it negative. Just drop it and try again a week later. Hopefully they’ll be more ready next time. Keep it positive and don’t punish.
Training in stages and not moving on until a stage- like learning to get pants/shorts/skirts off AND back on- is complete. Also, letting them watch you shows them it’s the normal thing to do and sparks curiosity.
My guy saw this Watch and WANTED it. He chose a cool timer from the store when we first tried building the habit of going. Then it wasn’t me doing the reminding all the time. The WATCH is sooo BIG Kid.
Letting them go naked. For some reason there’s a pause when they have to go and that gives you just enough of a window to rush them to the potty. Also while the bath water is running, that usually makes all of us have to go. Take advantage of that time to set them on the potty too. Of course this will not work for all kids…but it might. Anything is worth a shot.
My best tip: Wait until the child is truly old enough to be ready.
We have my little mans favorite stuffed animal in big boy underwear too & we are close on a potty chair but #2 is holding us back & he will need to stand up so videos would be a great help!!!
This sounds gross, I know, but finding things that little boys can throw into the potty & aim at, like Cherrios & Fruit Loops, make going to the bathroom fun! You just have to make sure they understand that it’s ONLY when they go potty otherwise you might end up with a potty full of cereal & nothing else!
While potty training, your little man must wear…underwear.
