We love cakes at our house. Some days are fancy, some days are fun. This BIG Oreo Cookie Layer Cake took less than an hour and is both fancy and FUN!
Making this BIG Oreo Cookie cake was a perfect excuse to try some new tart pans. Plus one of our neighbors was having a birthday and she loves the Homemade Oreo Cookies. If you wanted to get really fancy, Williams Sonoma has this pan set you could use.
1 box devil’s food cake mix
1 large box instant vanilla pudding
1 pint whipping cream
Make the cake according to the directions on the box. Pour into two large, 10-inch tart pans and bake as directed. Remove cakes from oven and let cool completely. Whip 1 package of vanilla pudding with 2 cups of whipping cream. The pudding will set up the whipping cream quickly. If your filling gets too stiff, add some milk, a tablespoon at a time, until a spreadable consistency.
Frost the top of one “cookie” and carefully place the second cookie layer on top. Cut a stencil out of parchment paper and place on the top of the cake. Using a mesh strainer, sprinkle with powdered sugar to decorate.
Another easy decorating tip is to place your kid’s magnetic letters on the cake and sprinkle the powdered sugar over the entire top of the cake, then remove the letters and the name will be dark (although it won’t look much like an Oreo).
