Traveling with a Toddler

We took a gamble. We took the toddler. And we were confined on an airplane with the little person that we have all ready nicknamed “The Terrorist”, well that’s just dangerous. I guess we’re lucky we didn’t get an additional pat down from TSA.

I asked our Facebook peeps to share their tips and tricks for flying with a toddler. Here’s what they had to say:

At the end of the day I went armed with pipe cleaners, coloring books, snacks, iPad, you name it. The flight over I thought we were destined for greatness. The flight was full and we ALL got bumped up into FIRST CLASS! I was confidant. Too confidant. The toddler did “ok” up there. But she was entitled. She thought she owned the place. And she decided that she preferred to take off and land on the floor without a seat-belt and the size of the first class seats gave her that freedom. (I should have looked into that CARE system mentioned in above Facebook thread).

On the way home we were on the VERY LAST row of the plane. My older kids were confused. My 8 yo said “Mom, I don’t understand this. Why do the first class people get meals and hot towels and bigger seats? This is not right! They only gave me pretzels! The air even smells better up there mom . . .”

But I’ll tell you what – the noisiness of the engines back there provided the perfect amount of white noise to knock the toddler out for most of the flight. Who needs first class anyway!

A friend and I travelled last week with a 6-week old and an 18 month old and all four of us got the additional pat down.
