Just Ask iMac Giveaway

***CONTEST CLOSED***
Congratulations to Laurie Floyd our grand prize winner of the iMac! Thanks to everyone who entered and helped us promote such a great cause!

Did you know there is a test that could warn you about your chances of getting cancer? Just Ask yourself, your family, and your Doctor: is there a personal or family history of breast or ovarian cancer?

One little test could save your life and give you a chance to keep making memories with the people you love.

That’s why we’ve joined the Just Ask folks to bring you an attention getting giveaway. Because, cancer, GETS YOUR ATTENTION. We asked ourselves, what can we do to get people to sit up and pay attention?

Easy. Give away an iMac.

A big one (21.5 Inch). With iPhoto and iMovie…perfect tools for making the most of those precious memories.  See, that’s the point of getting tested for hereditary breast and ovarian cancer…so you can stick around and keep on making memories.

Entering this contest is easy. Go to the Just Ask Facebook page and click “Like” to learn more about BRACAnalysis Testing. Come back here and leave a comment on this post telling us you liked Just Ask. $1 will be donated to provide screening to women who could not otherwise afford it (up to $25,000) and you’ll be entered to win that fabulous iMac to boot!

We’ve even got a few extra ways for you to enter:

1. Share this tweet: Your “LIKE” = $1 for Breast/Ovarian Cancer http://on.fb.me/JustAskHBOC Get screened. #justask

2. Go “like” Today’s Mama on Facebook.

3. Share a memory or a thought about someone you know who has battled Breast/Ovarian Cancer in the comments section.

Remember to leave a separate comment for each entry on this post, including links to your tweets.

First and foremost we want you to keep your lady parts healthy. If we have to dangle an iMac in front of you to do it, so be it!

UPDATED: Good Luck! The contest ends on Saturday, March 12th @ 5p MST

Sharing: My mother in law and mother were fighting cancer at the same time. While it’s important to be aware of the health of your lady parts, lung cancer is also a killer of women–and 60% of cases are nonsmokers. So, when you’re being aware of your risks for cancer, don’t stop at your lady parts. My mother in law is now clear of cancer, but my mother–who had lung cancer–died in 2007.

I went over and liked both Today’s Mama and Just Ask. This is such an awesome cause. The BRCA 1 & 2 test can save women’s lives. I received the test because of a high risk of ovarian cancer. I have already lost 2 aunts to this cancer and losing one more right now. Knowing that I do not carry this gene has given me some peace of mind (but remember these cancers are not just from this gene). Just Ask giving away $1 for every like so that women who cannot afford the test is just awesome. The test after insurance was over $500. Just knowing your risks can and will save lives. Keeping vigilant about your health is the only way to be detected early.

In high school my best friend’s mother died of ovarian cancer when we were around 14 years old. Now, as an adult, she’s had a hysterectomy after having two children to try and prevent the same things from happening to her daughters.

Thanks for the heads up on the site. My mother was diagnosed with ovarian cancer 15 years ago and it has returned now for the sixth time. She actually started treatment again today. Fortunately God has been good and she has had wonderful doctors who have taken very good care of her and each time she comes through with flying colors. She is a firm believer also in the CA-125 blood test. If you are at risk ask your doctor for one – it saved her life.

My Grandmother struggled for many years with Breast Cancer. She seemed to have “beat it” until she took a turn for the worst and it consumed her. It is so very important to make many more aware of this horrible disease. Thank you!
