February Love Mix: Kick in the Pants

Jenny is a full-time mom to two very energetic boys. (Are there kids who aren’t energetic?) In her spare time she works as a pharmacy tech and blogs over at Like Swimming–futile attempts to remember she used to engage in meaningful conversation with tall people.

Motherhood has done interesting things to my libido. When I say “interesting things,” I mean “sent into hibernation.” I know. Too much information. Still, hibernation isn’t death, so there’s still a spark.
To that end, my February Love Mix is a hodgepodge of songs that give my love life a little kick in the pants. So to speak.
Fever – Peggy Lee
Sugar in my Bowl – Nina Simone
Essence – Lucinda Williams
I Know You (Part III) – Morphine
Hey Pretty – Poe
The Perfect Drug – Nine Inch Nails
Dirrty – Christina Aguilera
One Time for Me – Reverend Horton Heat
Paralyzer – Finger Eleven
Naughty Girl – Beyonce
Glory Box – Portishead
Bad Things – Jace Everett
#1 Crush – Garbage
Rock Your Body – Justin Timberlake

“Undisclosed Desires” really is a rockin’ love song You noticed it on my list, right? I’d listened to the song on the CD lots of times when it was released, but didn’t love it until a friend surprised me with a pair of tickets to the show. During this song, my husband wrapped his arms around me from behind and sang the words in my ear (which is something totally uncharacteristic of him.)The parking lot was a mess after the concert from a massive snowstorm, so we just fogged up the windows and kissed like teenagers listening to that song in the crowded parking lot. There was definitely a “kick in the pants” with that song, that night.
