get outside. one thing I loved about living in Seattle is no one there lets a little thing like rain stop them from going out and doing…(now snow is another thing;)…I try to keep that in mind with my son we can always bundle up and go out and stomp around a bit…if not, we turn on music loud and dance like crazy people

  13. Tina Mayo 12/05/2010 at 7:31 pm

I think because I have to work ..that I have to get out too much wish I was in long enough o get it sometimes!!

  14. Geri C 12/05/2010 at 5:48 pm

The winter months aren’t the issue here in Phoenix, AZ…it’s the endless summer months with the 120 degree days that kill my boys’ enthusiasm for outdoor play. We usually spend a lot of time in the pool until we get so wrinkly we have to move indoors. Then we resort to board games, science, experiments, card games, whatever we can do to fill the hours and beat the heat. A nerf gun war would be very cool!

  15. Kim Cappadona 12/05/2010 at 2:16 pm

My kids and I bake EVERY kind of cookie we can think of and then play board games while we sample each kind!

  16. kat blue 12/04/2010 at 10:17 pm

unfortunately for my waist, the cure for cabin fever during our winter months involves baking treats and playing Wii…kids love it!

  22. Amy G 12/04/2010 at 6:24 am

I’m also from Texas, where it’s warm in winter. I don’t really have any cabin fever to beat. I’d play games with my son.

  33. andrea rosenkrantz 12/03/2010 at 4:04 pm

With 13 year old twin girls and an 11 year old boy, being snowed in really means a lot of this….”I’m bored!” and “There’s nothing to do.”
When this occurs my first instinct is to blurt out what my mother always said…”I’ve got a whole list of things you can do. Start with the toilet!” But, these days I try to stay away from that and just get the kids interested in something fun. We love to play board games and bake cookies, but our favorite thing is to look through old photos. Their aunt, my sister, passed away two and a half years ago and I think I am just making sure they don’t forget her. She was a ton of fun very much a part of their lives. We look at pictures of her and try to remember what we were doing. We tell great stories about our experiences (I get to tell a few gems about when we were growing up) and, in the end, we all remember what a wonderful person she was and how our lives were better because she was ours.

  34. Jade =) 12/03/2010 at 1:40 pm

We’re in Texas, there’s no such thing as long Winter months. It could be 75 one day, 30 the next, but it doesn’t stay one way or the other for too long (except hot in the summer, that’s when WE get cabin fever, it’s too hot to get outside!).

  35. Christienne 12/03/2010 at 12:58 pm

We beat cabin fever with marathon movie trilogies.

    Like Lord of the Rings
    Harry Potter

    You get the drift…

  36. Karla Sceviour 12/03/2010 at 10:40 am

    Bundle up and get outside!

  44. Erica Sonnier 12/03/2010 at 8:58 am

Well, living in Minnesota, we can really get some cabin fever. I mean, doctors up here will just start handing out antidepressants to get folks through the blues. We of course, don’t go that route.

I’ve found that having craft projects helps keep the kids focused for a period of time and they enjoy it. Cooking together and making cookies is a relief. I mean, who can’t be happy when the house is filled with the yummy smell of cookies!!!

But, we also play games and these are usually strategy board games which take 2 to 3 hours to play.

On the warmer days, you know, above 20, we can still get out and walk down the block to the bakery for a hot coco. Sometimes just 10 minutes out in the cool air does a little reset on that cabin fever 🙂

  45. Raejean Roberts 12/03/2010 at 8:57 am
