Best Songs I Downloaded in 2010

Lookie what I found this year!!! It doesn’t necessarily mean that it came out this year. In most cases it just means I’m a little behind the times. Nonetheless, these are all tasty viddles for adding to your iTunes library and my favorite things I downloaded this year.

Badfish/Boss DJ – Jack Johnson, Look At All the Love We Found

Mostly makes me wish I was sitting on a beach somewhere in Hawaii with Jack playing for me and my BFF’s.

Blame It On The Tetons – Modest Mouse, Good News for People Who Love Bad News
Seriously – this song might be about a boy and a girl breaking up, but my husband’s accident happened after he got down from climbing the Grand Tetons. So I thought this song was perfect!

Armistice – Phoenix, Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix
They remind me of the Killers. I used to get confused. I like them almost as much.

All I Want is You – Tristan Prettyman, Live Session
I realized that I have a severe lack of ladies in my 2010 recap. I do also love Regina Spektor, Ingrid Michaelson and Feist but they have been in my library for awhile now.

Covers

Float On’ – Ben Lee, John Tucker Must Die

An absolutely awesome remake.

In Your Eyes – Sara Bareilles
Who doesn’t love any song that reminds you of John Cusack with his ghetto blaster?

Free Fallin’ (live) – John Mayer, Where the Light Is – Live in Los Angeles
Love this live version, and also the live version of “The Heart of Life” on this album.

Cecilia – Jesse Cook, The Rumba Foundation
My 2 yo gets mad when anyone else claps but her.

Chillin’ Music

Jolene – Ray LaMontagne, Trouble
I thought he recorded in 74′ for a minute, but he’s like a modern day Van Morrison whom I also love. I’m pretty sure I still can’t pronounce his last name correctly though.

China Airline – Matt the Electrician, Made for Working
A little folksy, a little unplugged, kind of camping music.

The Cave – Mumford & Sons, Sigh No More

When they kick in with their little banjo moment I have to turn the radio up. That almost makes it so I can’t put it in the chillin’ category. Banjos move me. And I’m pretty sure I need to download the rest of the album.

Instrumental

Dan and Marie Finale Theme – Sondre Lerche, Dan in Real Life Soundtrack

The Winner Is – Little Miss Sunshine

Such Great Heights – The Section Quartet

Best Complete Album

Vampire Weekend – Contra
Thank you to Gabby from Design Mom and her cute husband Mr.Blair for properly introducing me to Vampire Weekend this fall in San Jose! Especially love Horchata and Holiday. This entire album is good and worth a straight listen through without any skipping!

How did I find all of my new tunes this year? Bookmarking on Pandora and a few good introductions from friends. Enjoy!

What were the favorites on your playlist this year? I’ve got to start building a new wish list!

Excellent list! Based on what we have in common, I can’t wait to check out the ones I haven’t heard of…thanks to several Santa presents of iTunes cards!

My current “new” mp3 that I have been sharing with everyone is Seether’s cover of Careless Whisper. That song was totally meant to be a little more rock n roll (sorry George Michael).

I’m only slightly annoyed you let Gabby introduce you to Vampire Weekend when I’ve been telling you guys about them for years. BUT WHATEVER, Rachael! It’s cool. I’ll heal. With time. And a lot of tissue + ACE bandages.

I have been under a musical rock this year so this list makes my whole day!
