Pinch me . . .

I’m in Geek Heaven! That place is called San Jose. It’s true – I find it one of the most compelling places on the planet (and it also doesn’t hurt that they have amazing weather!). It took me about .03 seconds to respond to eBay’s invitation to come out to their headquarters and learn more about their upcoming holiday promotion.

(sidenote: One time I came back from a trip to the Bay Area with pictures of the boys from Skype and Digg and showed them to my friends as if I had just seen Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt. For reals.)

The skinny on eBay! They just launched their “Love to Give” campaign celebrating “Unwrap Attacks“.

Check it!

By the end of the video we were all crying. Yes because we are pansies and YES because we are moms who loved seeing the happy kids (and maybe missed our own just a tiny bit). I blame the crying on Gabrielle from DesignMom and her cute baby. The clip is actually totally funny. It apparently doesn’t take much to make bloggers cry.

I also have a treat for later this week. I got in a sleigh with Samantha Bee from the Daily Show and shot a video. She told me I looked familiar. I asked her if it’s because she recognized me from my famous TV life. And then I had to do my shoot over like 3 or 4 times. Sometimes cameras paralyze me. We’ll post that clip later this week.

Now as for eBay and Christmas shopping . . . it’s never crossed my mind to do it. I’ve shopped online for gifts, and we still hoof it to lots of brick and mortar stores. The first thing I ever bought off of eBay was a CAR . That’s right – a car. If we are going to do something we don’t do it half way. 😉 And it was a great experience. But in honesty I haven’t bought a whole lot from eBay over the course of the years.

We stayed on Santana Row while we were in San Jose (amazing shopping) and I put it to the test.

When I came across things that I loved or wanted to buy – I looked up their price on eBay. And I’ll be doing as much of my shopping there as possible from now on. Check it – I saw a very funky doodle book for my kids in Anthropolgie that cost $20 and in one search on eBay found the same book, NEW for $5 with free shipping. Done and done.

I’ll be posting a bit more about my trip to San Jose and some of the straight up ninja tricks I learned while I was there. Stay tuned! But in the meantime – seriously enjoy the Unwrap Attack videos that will make you laugh and cry! Do you have an amazing “Unwrap Attack” caught on video all ready? You can share it with eBay’s “Unwrap Attack Creator” on Facebook.

(and I seriously love how she twiddles the bow on the gift at the beginning of the video.)

And of course we always love to share the goodness! I’ve got a $100 gift certificate from eBay to help you create an “Unwrap Attack” moment of your own. Just lave a comment and tell me what you are dying to buy for a loved one! We’ll choose a winner next week!

I’d probably get my husband a camcorder since he’s been asking for one since our son’s birth (one year ago on Tuesday) and then I’d let him pick out what he wants to spend the rest on.

I would buy a Wii for our family to use! Too fun!

My daughter would like to get some furniture for her doll house.

Hi!!!! Thanks for hosting this giveaway! For an unwrap attack I think I’m going to be selfish and say that I myself would love this GC *blush* The kids and the hubby are set but I would love to have some extra cash to purchase some things that might help me get my etsy store going (can’t make the goods without the tools! <3) I'm going to die of guilt once I hit the Post As button but honestly LOL I swear I never shop for myself..

I would like to buy a leapfrog toddler computer for my three year old. He is at the stage where he loves to learn and is absorbing it all like a sponge. If I win, will use this ebay gc to purchase his computer and a couple of learning games to go with it.

I just discovered eBay! I was stuck in the ER with my 3 yr old (long story, he is fine now:). At 3 in the morning I found his feet to be cold in his tennis shoes. I thought I would try online shopping for warm, winter shoes while hubby and the the 3 yr old slept. I stumbled into eBay and am so glad I did. I saved so much money on my boys’ winter coats and boots! I would like to purchase a Santa Suit for our family reunion this Christmas! eBay is now my own personal world I can “dissappear” in, since “zoning out” at the grocery store is becoming a bit mundane;).

Our daughter turns ONE on Christmas Day! We are scraping by as college students and would love to use this to buy her a new toy for Christmas and her birthday.

    Thank you! Merry Christmas!

I absolutely love Ebay! Sounds like you found some of the treasures like I have! There are so many things that I would like to provide my family this year and with a $100 gift card I think this year I would spend it either on my Dad or Step-dad. My dad this year went above and beyond to give me everything I wanted for my small budget wedding by working over time and doing whatever he could. My step dad had helped my family by coming down and taking care of my daughter while she was sick. My daughter has been in and out of the hospital for the past year. It has really taken a toll on my husband and I to see the doctors unable to provide us with an answer to many of our questions but my family has helped out extremely. So I think that a gift card would be an amazing gift for all the help they have given us.

From a long time i want to start baking for my family. I am a good cook but not a very often baker. I need to buy all the baking gadgets that i’ll need to pamper my family and have a felling of satisfaction for myself 🙂

As a result of my husband’s job transfer in January, I am now an unemployed teacher in a city and state with many unemployed teachers. Because of all of the teachers who are unemployed, there is also a lot of competition for subbing jobs. In the meantime, I volunteer as a Kids’ Hope mentor, a Girl Scout leader, an AWANA leader, and I lead a Bible study as well. I would like to purchase a WII system for our daughter, but at present, money is tight. I would love to win an ebay gift card so that I could purchase this for our daughter.

  17. Sunny 11/22/2010 at 3:13 pm

I would love to supply my daughter with some great creative time with some legos and the family would love a great Wii game.

  18. Anonymous 11/22/2010 at 2:56 pm

We don’t have much of a budget for Christmas and my sweet children haven’t really asked for much, but the one thing they’ve asked for is a doll house. I’d love to get them an awesome doll house, but it is more than I can afford. If we get it one ebay we may even get a good deal and then I could also buy Beauty & the Beast on DVD, which is my daughter’s (and mine) favorite movie ever!

Thanks and I hope I win!!!!

I can’t wait until my pre teen daughter unwraps her cell phone. I am still picking the perfect on that is cute yet practical for a pre teen. She has been asking for 2 years now and I finally decided that this is the year. I can’t wait to see the look on her face. Thanks for the offer.

I’ve never bought anything on ebay, although I’ve bid and watched items. It just never works out. I’d love to buy my husband some guitar stuff he’s been wanting.

  21. Mandyheal 11/22/2010 at 12:29 pm

We have three kids under three and would love to buy them a trampoline or train table. A gift card might make that possible…

  22. Polly Harrison 11/22/2010 at 3:07 am

I would love to buy some Uggs – my older Uggs are shot and I LOVE how my feet feel in the winter when I’m stomping around in those puppies. 🙂

  23. Anonymous 11/18/2010 at 6:55 pm

Such funny eBay vids! I’ve only purchased a $0.78 bottle opener on eBay, but my DH buys all sorts of things for us on there. So much can happen with $100!

  24. Jen 11/18/2010 at 4:11 pm

I would buy my son some legos! He loves them!

  25. Anonymous 11/18/2010 at 4:19 am

My husband is an eBay ninja. He can find ANYTHING on that site.

  26. Kirsten 11/18/2010 at 12:48 am

I would buy a giant stuffed animal for my younger sister, who is obsessed with stuffed animals.

  27. Anonymous 11/17/2010 at 10:44 pm

I thought my friend was crazy when he told me he bought a car on eBay and then he drove from OK to OR to pick up said car. I guess he’s not the only one buying cars on eBay. Really cool that you were one of the first, oh and not to mention how AWESOME it was to meet you!

  28. Veda 11/17/2010 at 5:37 pm

Our challenge this Christmas comes from our 11 yr old fashionista. She is dying for some rockin’ cowgirl boots: black with red flames on the sides. I have actually seen some similar ones on ebay that may pass the test!

  29. Cam 11/17/2010 at 2:40 pm

Well, all me and my sibling want are things we can’t have. Y’know like a fully operational genie lamp and Artemis Fowl 8 which unfortunately doesn’t exist. So it’d have to sock monkey my other sibling wants like the one on Mr. Magorium’s Wonder Emporium.

  30. Anonymous 11/17/2010 at 1:09 pm

Books are great; and eBay is a great place to get scrapbook supplies. No, they’re not just for me – I scrapbook with my kiddos too!

  31. Christina 11/17/2010 at 12:32 pm

I have one who would love books – more and more books and maybe board games. But, I think I’d have to send this off to my sister to find things for her kids, since she has a spouse who has been unemployed for over a year and this holiday is looking pretty grim.

  32. KimD 11/16/2010 at 10:32 pm

I am still trying to narrow down (or even figure out!) what on earth to do for my two little ones for Christmas. However, ebay is where I am hoping against all hope I can get/find my mother-in-law’s gift. She LOVES sorcerer Mickey AND wine and the Disney store, of course, just sold out of the Sorcerer Mickey bottle stopper. So while I know I need to get in gear for everyone else really stinkin’ soon, that’s the gift I am really focused on right now.

  33. Janice Croze 11/16/2010 at 8:21 pm

It was INDEED Geek heaven! I loved every second of it.

Seeing you was SO fantastic — what an incredible group of women we had. Just so inspiring and FUN!

  34. Ladyamnesty 11/16/2010 at 8:20 pm

I would love to buy my kids an xbox 360 for Christmas. They would absolutely freak out happy if they saw that! We have 4 boys and xbox offers games for the whole family which would please everyone!

  35. superdumb 11/16/2010 at 7:14 pm

I still can’t believe you bought a car on eBay! So awesome. Loved spending some time with you and finding out just how cool eBay really is. Hope to see you soon. (I hereby recuse myself from this contest, btw.)

  36. erobisonca 11/16/2010 at 6:25 pm

Glad you love my hometown…I like the Geekiness too!
I would love a gift card to eBay so that I can get my husband something wonderful. I am a stay at home mom and it is always tough to get something without an income! It is like he is buying his own gift. I would love to simply give him the card and let him go crazy!
BTW…Stephanie…I was born on Christmas Eve and I”m turning 40 this year. You have quite a challenge ahead, but just know that we Christmas babies do not know anything different! Good luck!

  37. Cecily R 11/16/2010 at 6:22 pm

Could I buy some organization on ebay? Or maybe a maid for a day? Because that? Would be six shades of awesome right about now. Honestly if I won I’d probably lose the darn thing within ten minutes of getting it.

  38. Lanette 11/16/2010 at 6:12 pm

Wow…that ebay gift card could come in really handy for our first Christmas with our little boy. I would love to buy my husband a nice new watch and have it engraved celebrating his first year of being an awesome Daddy!

  39. Stefanie 11/16/2010 at 5:53 pm

Well not only would I totally appreciate this gift card in these tough times but my daughter who was born on Christmas Day in 2008 would love for me to win this so she can have a even more Merry Christmas and a Happy Birthday this year. With a baby brother on the way I would love to get her some just like mommy baby doll items. Thanks you for this great opportunity!

Right now it’s saying I’m going to be #1 to comment…which is never good…but still.

I love Samantha Bee. Seeing her in these commercials just makes me happy. Will a $100 gift card buy me time in a commerical with her? If so, that’s what I’d buy.

In reality though I’d love to get my boys Leapsters. We’ve held off on any video games/gaming systems for their first six years…but now it’s time. They’re totally out of our holiday budget…but maybe with a rockin’ gift card?!?!
