The Editor’s March Favorites
Ah, March. In like a lion, out like a lamb? For some, maybe…but as I type, snow flurries are falling on the patio furniture outside my office window.
Regardless of the current weather, March saw tweets, Facebook updates and blog posts proclaiming and praising the return of sandals and sunshine.
I’ve even had the chance to enjoy my fair share of trips to the park and offer end-of-the-slide cheers.

Check out a few of the marvelous things that March had to offer online (plus a giveaway at the end – WOOT).
The Handsome Men’s Club
Yes, everyone has seen this but it’s worth watching again. And again, and again…and again….
Mom’s are awesome….
#228 from 500 Pieces of Prudent Advice for My Baby Daughter.
Musings on being a mother from Christina of {my topography}.
A better parenting lesson than any I’ve read in any book from the rinrins.
Understanding Your Personality: Balancing Tasks and People from SimpleMom.net.
A big yellow lightbulb shined brightly for me when I read this earlier in the month.
FUN & LOVELY
Plastic Bag Bunny from Kid’s Craft Weekly
Yes, Easter is mere moments away, but everyone has a plastic bag lying around, just begging to be turned into a bunny.

Great song accompanying inspired photography and videography via Tara Whitney’s blog.
Zawadzki Family Film from Michel Sandy on Vimeo.
Raggedy Ann Party from One Charming Party.
Bright, girly and beautiful!

Make Your Own Mixed-Media Lyric T-shirt at Make and Takes.
We all have an internal theme song. It’s high time you slapped it on your favorite tee.
The Puzzle Solution from Sutton Grace
GENIUS!
FOOD
I’ve been dieting, with a goal to lose 20 pounds by my 31st Birthday, so my daily meandering through my favorite food blogs has been somewhat torturous. And then there are those Girl Scouts! Sitting on every corner….enticing me with their jewel colored boxes of baked delight. Here are a few goodies that caught my yearning eye this month:
No Biggie – A week of rotisserie chicken recipes.
I’ve been pining away for Chicken Salad on a buttery croissant since I read this.

Cadbry Creme Eggs Benedict at Serious Eats.
This horrifies and beckons me closer, all at once. As if this sweet dish isn’t overloaded enough, the last step is, “add sprinkles”. (Sidenote: wolfing down a whole 4 pack of orange Cadbury Creme eggs was the catalyst for my current weight loss goal.)
Dark Chocolate Mint Chip Brownies from Bakerella
Oh, look! All of my favorite things, all in one recipe!
Make Your Own Girl Scout Cookies at Chow via NotMartha.
When you’re craving Samoas next October, now you have a solution.
Beef and Bean Burritos from Tiffany of The Would-Be Writers Guild
I can’t wait until my diet is over. I may just ring in my 31st birthday with a plate…nay…a PLATTER of these.
Crazy For Costco from Happy Foody
Because I am. And because this is a great breakdown of fresh food prices at the somewhat overwhelming store.
GIVEAWAY!
Speaking of food, Cathy’s post today about gratitude – especially what she says about being thankful about having money and access to good food – hit home for me. Being thankful for good food is something to definitely be mindful of…as is continuing to donate to food pantries beyond the holiday season.
Seneca Foods and Libby’s is donating FIVE MILLION POUNDS of food to Feeding America and encouraging people to find a local food bank to help hungry families.
They also want to feed your family and have given me a $25 American Express gift card to share with you! To enter to win, tell me about your favorite meal in the comments below. I’ll pick one random winner next Wednesday, April 7th.
UPDATED: The contest is now closed. Congratulations to our winner, mjeaustin.

My favorite breakfast is kind of weird to some. Oatmeal with hot chocolate mix. You gotta to try it, it is yummy!

Oh, gosh, thanks for the nod! I'm honored!
Favorite meal lately has been Cooking Light's chipotle mac & cheese – I love to double the recipe and freeze half for another day. Can't wait to see what other people like and get some new ideas!
I love that Easter bunny idea from the plastic bag, and yes we all have at least one of those lying around.
And who wouldn't want to have a scrumptious Raggedy Ann (or Andy) party like that!
Favorite meal? Homemade wheat and rye bread with real butter and brie cheese. Seriously!
Favorite meal? I don't know if I can name just one. I guess at the moment it's grilled chicken with baked sweet potato and either broccoli or green beans. Or substitute Fried chicken for grilled and mac & cheese (homemade) for the sweet potato (or have both but that's just a bit too much).
Wow yep Dark Chocolate Mint Chip Brownies are a diet killer…but they sound wonderful. Think I might have to look them up.
One of my favorites to make and eat–bbq chicken pizza!! I put the ingredients on pizza dough or in between two tortillas for an even quicker meal. All you need is your favorite brand of bbq sauce, cubed chicken (baked), cilantro, italian blend cheese and red onion. ta-da. California Pizza Kitchen right there in your oven.
One of my fav meals is hamburger gravy over biscuits. Maybe not the healthiest, but it's so comforting, warm and filling. Thanks for the giveaway!
