Editor’s Note: Since there are few ways better suited for saying “I love you” than through song, I thought I would invite a few friends to share their preferred collection of songs for celebrating L-O-V-E.
We’ll have a new mix, every day through Valentine’s Day. You can see them all here.

Day 7 Mix: Happy Love Song Mix from Anna of Ohh, Betsy!
When asked about love songs, I get a bit flummoxed. What kind of love song? Unrequited love? Lost love? Sweet, sweet love (spoken in a deep yet lovely tone of voice)? I find it to be tricky business because often, the best lyrics are born of heartbreak. I’m not 100% sure but I don’t think heartbreak is what TodaysMama had in mind when they asked me to create a Valentine’s Mix.
Okay so love. Love. Right. Good love songs. Not those love songs that trick you into thinking it’s about love but really it’s about the ashes where love once burned. Okay. Got it. Pushing aside visions of John Cusack holding his boom box above his head blaring In Your Eyes by Peter Gabriel trying to woo back his beloved, I decided to pick HAPPY love songs. Think Friday, I’m in Love by the Cure but hopefully not so kitschy. These songs remind me of how fun it is to be in love. Love is happy, shiny and pretty. Maybe it’s not all sunshine and puppies every moment of every day but what better day to be reminded of love’s joy than on Valentine’s Day?
