A Love Song Mix A Day: Rock and Roll Mama’s MUSHY Mix

Editor’s Note: Since there are few ways better suited for saying “I love you” than through song, I thought I would invite a few friends to share their preferred collection of songs for celebrating L-O-V-E.

We’ll have a new mix, every day through Valentine’s Day. You can see them all here.

Day 1 Mix: Lindsay Maines, Rock and Roll Mama

I’m a bit of a sucker for the bolt of lightning, the Earth stopped spinning and time stood still kind of love.

A  big believer in the grand gesture, and the honest commune of two hearts.

Which is all my lil way of saying, my mix is the MUSHY mix, y’all!

The butterfly havin, can’t think about Calculus no-how, pretending to work for the school paper calling you on Sunday night to interview you kind of love.

Oh yeah, I’m your Huckleberry. That’s just my type.

My theory is: when you find a man who you have a straight-up high school style crush on? You bet. Marry that one.

With that in mind, here’s my mix.

Stars Fell on Alabama, Louis Armstrong and Ella Fitzgerald
Another Round of Blues, Shawn Colvin
There is a Light that Never Goes Out, The Smiths
Through the Fire, Chaka Khan
Somebody, Depeche Mode
Kind of In Love, The Avett Brothers
When Push Comes to Love, William Elliott Whitmore
Blood Bank, Bon Iver
This Tornado Loves You, Neko Case
