What was your big dream?
My big dream was to be able to contribute financially to my household while staying home with my two young children and help moms at the same time.
How did you accomplish it?
I launched TwitterMoms.com on September 2, 2008 and have watched it grow from four moms the first day to over 5,800 moms today! I’m able to stay home with my children and help moms on TwitterMoms grow their businesses and blogs.
Where did you find inspiration to get started?
My husband inspired me to check out social media to connect with other moms online. I loved it and came up with the idea for TwitterMoms. Now, it’s the incredible moms on TwitterMoms who inspired me everyday! These influential women run households, families, businesses and blogs with the greatest of ease and support each other along the way! They are truly amazing women!
What motivated you to keep going?
My family and the moms on TwitterMoms kept me motivated even in stressful and very busy times! Every time I started doubting myself, I would just think of all the amazing women on TwitterMoms who have to balance work, school, raising their children, taking care of their family and themselves — they gave me strength to keep going! Also, knowing that I can be with my children and work from home has brought a feeling of freedom and confidence that keeps me motivated to make TwitterMoms the best is can be!
What’s your next Big Dream?
My big dream is to grow TwitterMoms and expand into other areas creating a media company for women and moms. Watch out Martha, here I come!
Who is your hero?
Any woman who is doing her own thing, by her rules and is having fun! A good example of this is Oprah and J.K. Rowling.
What do you wish you did better?
Gosh, the list is endless…I wish I was a better mother, wife, sister, daughter…I know I can’t be perfect, but I’m always striving to be better.
What book is on your night stand?
Mary by Janice Cook Newman. Mary is a novel written in the first person, comprised of notes composed by Mary Todd Lincoln when she was an inmate of a lunatic asylum. It’s a selection from my neighborhood book club. I’m just starting it, but so far it is great!
What is your favorite lipstick?
I’m more of a lip gloss gal. My favorites are Revlon and L’Oreal. I love how lip gloss can dress up a look very easily! The multi-tasking moms of the world need products that are fast and easy!
What is your favorite quote?
We just had this discussion on TwitterMoms asking the moms what is their favorite movie quote. My favorite, along with many other TwitterMoms, is “My name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die.” The Princess Bride.
