While battling morning sickness, Andrea Vincent came up with the idea to connect running mothers to each other via her website SeeMommyRun.com.
City / State
What was your big dream?
Create a meeting place online where moms could connect to find running partners locally.
How did you accomplish it?
Built a web site and asked small local moms groups to help spread the word. After I saw how big a need it filled, I began promoting it to newspapers, television, and other web sites.
Where did you find inspiration to get started?
Web design and marketing is my background. So I started the site as a part-time hobby/project while pregnant to keep my mind off how incredibly sick I was (all 9 months).
What motivated you to keep going?
My passion about setting a good, healthy example for my own children keeps me motivated to help others do the same.
What’s your next Big Dream?
Create a way to help inner city or foster kids find fitness partners and keep them on the right track towards a healthy life no matter what obstacles they face.
When you were 5 what did you want to be when you grew up?
A ballerina. I took dance classes until I was a teenager, then re-entered the world of dance in college for a bit. I would love to get back into it one day (when I have time).
What about when you were 15?
Brain Surgeon. However, academically I was not meant for that calling!
Now, what do you want to be when you grow up?
An advocate for the elderly. I want to show advanced seniors how they can live stronger lives earlier to prevent them from entering assistant living and nursing – helping them live independently longer.
What book is on your night stand?
Kathy Reichs “Deja Dead” and “Happiest Toddler on the Block” and “Running in Literature”
What’s your Guilty Pleasure? (Grey’s Anatomy, Peppermint Mocha Lattes)
Chocolate, chocolate, chocolate – especially dark chocolate covered espresso beans.
What song moves you?
“I will Survive” by Gloria Gaynor. It reminds me that I will survive the TERRIBLE 3’S!!! Terrible 2’s were nothing, folks!
