What was your big dream?
I always wanted to run my own company and create a life that would give me financial freedom and a flexible schedule to raise my children.

How did you accomplish it?
I had an idea one afternoon to create custom flash cards for my son. I wanted a creative way to teach my son about people and things that were familiar to him through personal photos. I thought it would be a great learning tool for other parents so I turned it into an internet business that I could manage from my home. I started to research the concept in 2005 and realized that there was not another company or service creating custom flash cards. I named my company Goosie, which is my son’s nickname, and began my journey. was under development for a year before it was launched in June 2006. turns your personal photos into flash cards. Members log in to their accounts and upload their personal photos, add text to their cards and check out.

Where did you find inspiration to get started?
My inspiration is my family. I want to have the financial freedom someday to have my husband stay at home to help me with the company, and also share time with my son and new baby the way that I do. I think companies and work hours today have gotten so out of hand that no one respects family time anymore.

What motivated you to keep going?
My husband has been my #1 fan…for some reason he always believes in my “I have a great idea” speech. He is very funny and keeps me laughing when I’m about to go crazy. Our families have been completely supportive and helpful in caring for my son when needed. Also, all my friends have been a great support and sounding board for me, as I experienced all the up and downs of starting a business.

What’s your next Big Dream?
My next big dream is to enjoy baby #2 and take some time off! Once I get back into the swing of things, I will continue to grow and expand my business with new product lines for 2008.
